Within the scope of the NÖROnoM seminar series, the lecture titled “The Effects of Glycogen Depletion or Sleep Deprivation on Brain Excitability” was held on February 18, 2026, at the NÖROM Building.
Prof. Hülya Karataş Kurşun from the Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry at Hacettepe University addressed the impact of insufficient glycogen stores and sleep deprivation on neuronal excitability. Emphasizing the interaction between brain energy metabolism and sleep regulation, she evaluated the role of these physiological processes in neurological functions and performance in light of current experimental and clinical findings.
The event brought together academics and healthcare professionals and provided a comprehensive platform for scientific discussion on energy metabolism, neuroinflammation, and brain excitability. The NÖROnoM seminar series aims to promote interdisciplinary exchange and to disseminate current research in neuroscience and neurotechnology.
