"March 21 Down Syndrome Day Awareness Event" was held at NÖROM

The "March 21 World Down Syndrome Day Awareness Event" organized by Gazi University/NÖROM was held with the participation of Gazi University Vice President Prof. Dr. Hasan TEZER, Özkan ORAK from the Ankara Representative of the Turkish Down Syndrome Association, university academics, students and special guests.

 

The event began with the opening speech of NÖROM Center Director Prof. Dr. Hayrunnisa Bolay BELEN. Then, Specialist Dr. Meryem SARI from Gazi University Internal Medicine Department Child Health and Diseases Unit informed the participants with her presentation titled "Down Syndrome: General Characteristics and Causes".

 

In the presentation titled "Lives Empowered by Technology", which addressed the impact of technology on individuals with special needs, Gazi University Educational Sciences Institute Research Assistant Cihan SERT explained the contributions of technology to the quality of life of individuals with Down syndrome.

 

In the event where the importance of the education process was emphasized, Special Education Teacher Merve MAHAN attracted attention with her speech titled “Down Syndrome: Cognitive Development and Educational Approaches”.

 

One of the most interesting parts of the program was the interview of Naci Cengizhan DÖNMEZ who shared his experiences in business life. DÖNMEZ, who shared his journey from education to business life, shared the names that supported him in his successes and his dreams for the future with the participants.

 

The event ended by thanking the participants and emphasizing the efforts of the NÖROM team in the organization. This event, which aimed to create awareness, gave important messages that touched the lives of individuals with Down syndrome.
